Join Kids Forward and Ubuntu Research & Evaluation for a community conversation. Together, we will reimagine a youth justice system in Milwaukee & Wisconsin rooted in dignity, youth voice, and collaboration!

Every young person in Wisconsin deserves the opportunity to get an education, grow up in safe communities, and realize their potential. However, severe disinvestment, over-policing in communities of color, and racial bias in our legal system has led to youth of color being over-represented within the criminal legal system – from policing to courts to incarceration.

“So what is Kids Forward doing about it?”

Kids Forward is beginning a journey to build a statewide, BIPOC youth justice coalition that will mobilize youth to participate in youth justice advocacy. But first, we are hosting a series of statewide listening sessions to better understand:

  • What youth justice-related issues are important to youth & families,
  • which community organizations youth & families see as alternatives to youth incarceration,
  • and how youth & families envision a youth justice system that is rooted in dignity, youth voice, and collaboration.

This Sunday, October 6, 2024, we invite Milwaukee youth, young adults, parents, educators, and advocates to join Kids Forward and Ubuntu Research & Evaluation for a community conversation we’re calling “Radical Listening for Youth Justice.” Together, we will reimagine a youth justice system in Milwaukee & Wisconsin that doesn’t rely on incarceration or blame youth for system-wide failures.

Here’s what you can expect at the listening session:

  • $25 participation stipend for attendees
  • free food, herbal teas, and alcohol free cocktails
  • a community conversation facilitated by Milwaukee’s own Ubuntu Research & Evaluation

There are 40 spots available and we want you there!
