For more than 140 years, Kids Forward has been fighting for a Wisconsin where every child and family has an opportunity to thrive, especially children and families of color. We believe building a better future takes more than policy. Through Reimagine Wisconsin—our multi-year campaign to reimagine an economy that works for everyone, not the just wealthy few—we’re envisioning what’s possible. This takes imagination.
What would that look like?
A family that can afford child care. A child who can see a doctor when they’re sick. A young person who gets support instead of punishment. A parent who can pay the bills and still put food on the table.
We know art has the power to make these stories real in ways statistics and policy briefs cannot. Art moves people. It sparks conversation. It helps communities imagine what’s possible.
Now, we’re inviting Wisconsin artists to help bring that vision to life.
Kids Forward is seeking proposals from artists to create original works inspired by one of our six core policy priorities:
Care That Works
- Health care at a price all Wisconsin residents can afford
- Child care at no more than 5% of a family’s income
Work That Pays
- A living wage starting at $20/hr that goes up as cost of living increases
- Expanding tax credits that help working families make ends meet
Communities That Care
- Age appropriate support for youth, instead of new youth prisons
- Healthy school meals for all kids and nutritious food families can afford
We’re looking for art that captures both the challenges Wisconsin families face and the hopeful future we can build together.
Compensation
Six artists will be selected to receive:
- A $1,000 Artist Award
- A platform to share their work statewide
- Opportunities to have their art featured in campaign materials, public education, and digital outreach
Selected artists will create their work over a six-week period as part of the Reimagine Wisconsin campaign.
This is your chance to help shape the future story of Wisconsin and make policy feel real.
