Help Reduce Child Poverty in Wisconsin

For children to grow up healthy and strong, we must provide them with proper nourishment: healthy meals, a doctor to visit when they’re sick, a quality child care center, strong schools, a safe home, and a just community. But not every child in Wisconsin is getting the nourishment they need, far too many kids are living in poverty.

In Wisconsin, almost one in five kids live in poverty. The statistics are much worse for our children of color, with over one-half of Black children, nearly one-half of American Indian children, and over one-third of Latino children living in poverty. This is especially alarming because we know that children who live in poverty are at greater risk of a number of negative outcomes, including: school failure, shortened life expectancy, frequent unemployment, and lower earnings than their peers who do not grow up in poverty.

The future of our state is in jeopardy. That’s why we’re working hard to reduce poverty in Wisconsin. Recently, we’ve teamed up with The Wisconsin Council of Churches, WISDOM, and the Citizen Action Fund of Wisconsin to host a series of poverty forums in the state to raise awareness on how communities can come together and help alleviate poverty.

Please support our work to reduce poverty in Wisconsin. Your donation today will provide us with the resources needed to continue hosting these valuable forums and it will also provide us with the funding to take on new initiatives that will help reduce poverty.

Join me on this important mission to overcome child poverty. Your donation will help give EVERY child in our state the roots to grow and the wings to fly.
