Amid all the issues going on in Washington, it was good news that the House Education and Labor Committee held a hearing on April 21 on issues identified in the JJDPA reauthorizaton bill. So, while reauthorization poses some problems for compliance in Wisconsin (see the January/February WisKids Journal), overall the fact that the discussion is continuing is positive.

Wisconsin can be a place where we all—regardless of race or place—have what we need to overcome challenges and make our families safe and well. The state’s historically large surplus is an opportunity to build a stronger foundation for children and families in our state, like access to child care and health care, good schools, and affordable homes.
