The Fiscal Cliff: What’s at Stake for Wisconsin?

The so-called “fiscal cliff” could affect Wisconsinites in innumerable ways.  For many of us the immediate effects will be relatively minor, whereas for others – particularly jobless workers who are receiving federal unemployment benefits – there will be an abrupt and very damaging termination of a critical lifeline.

Over the past week and a half the Wisconsin Budget Project has been examining some of the potential effects of the fiscal cliff – in a series of daily blog posts and in an issue brief about the looming cutoff of unemployment benefits for about 40,000 Wisconsinites. We also hosted an hour-long webinar by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities that highlights what’s likely to happen with the fiscal cliff in the next few weeks, and what our priorities should be in those negotiations.

For a uniquely Wisconsin perspective on the fiscal cliff, read (and share!) our new series, The Fiscal Cliff: What’s at Stake for Wisconsin.
