Wisconsin ranks in the top 7 in staff-child ratios and group size for toddlers
Wisconsin is one of seven states that meets the staff-child ratio of one adult for every four 18-month-olds and a maximum class size of eight in group child care settings, according to the report, “Investing in Young Children,” by the Center for Law and Social Policy (CLASP) and the National Center for Children in Poverty (NCCP). The report indicates that ”smaller group sizes and fewer children per teacher help keep children safe and allow more frequent interactions between teachers and children.”

Wisconsin is about average among states in its staff-child ratios for 4-year-olds.

Wisconsin ranks #16 in overall program requirements and oversight
A recent report for Child Care Aware,  We Can Do Better: 2013 Update, Wisconsin was ranked sixteenth among states in overall  requirements and oversight of licensed child care centers. The report indicates that solid child care regulation provides a foundation for child safety and early learning and development.

These reports underline the solid regulatory foundation that Wisconsin has established, serving as a strong base for quality improvements like YoungStar.
